I suffer from anxiety. Sometimes it is severe, and sometimes I don’t notice it at all. When it does rear its ugly head, I have to patiently wait for it to subside.
As a Christian, there are many Bible verses that encourage me. Philippians 4:6-7 is familiar to many people, “Do not be anxious about anything…” But my favorite verse is Philippians 4:8. It tells me how to cope, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (ESV).
This is the verse I would get tattooed on my forearm if I had the guts. But since I don’t, I put it in a blanket.
This blanket is made using the corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet method. The pattern contains graphs for each of the 20 panels, which are joined together to make this soft, encouraging blanket. I joined each row using the whipstich method as I finished it in order to plan out my colors.
It was important to me to use colors that were calming and coordinated, though you could use yarn of any color and weight. I used Simply Soft yarn, which has a natural comfortable weight when completed, in the Pagoda colorway (Pagoda, Robin’s Egg, Off White, Chocolate, Gray). The five color color-scheme was put together and sold by Herrshners. I added two of the speckled colors (Seashell and Abyss) to add some dimension.
The border alternates single crochet and double crochet rows in what is commonly known as the modern granny stich.
The finished blanket is 64×64″. It is the perfect size to keep you warm on a cool day. You can bundle yourself in comfort and encouragement!
The pattern is available here for $4.99.
