Pink.
That’s the color that started ideas swirling in my head.
A friend of mine asked me to make a scarf for her grandaughter. There weren’t any specifications except that it needed to be pink.
I started off thinking I’d put hearts on it, but it wasn’t working like I planned. I took the scarf apart many times before settling on the pattern.
Flowers. Girls need flowers.
Flowers don’t bloom in winter, but spring is coming.
That’s how this pattern was born.
This scarf was small as it was made for a four-year-old, so I picked up some gray yarn from my stash that was part of my Christmas in July grab bag from Lion Brand Yarn and worked up an adult size.
The Spring Is Coming scarf is made from a couple of skeins of Lion Brand Hometown Yarn. I used 2 skeins of Providence Pink for the child size, which is 4″ across and 35″ long. I used 3 skeins of Slatington Slate for the adult size, which is 5″ wide and 70″ long. Both scarves worked up very quickly. I would say in 2-3 hours at most.
For more details about the pattern, it can be purchased here for $1.99. The paid pattern comes in both sizes.
And what about little Miss Pink? She loves her scarf. Her grandmother reports that she is wrapping it on all of her stuffies and toys. And now that the weather is dropping again, she’ll get to use it outside.
That smile is all the thanks I need.
Peace Out,
Heidi
