It has been a long time since Baby Boom (Part 1), but people keep having babies. I love babies, and I love giving babies baby blankets.
After having a Baby Boom in our homeschool co-op a couple of years ago, we have had another with six babies being born in just a little over a year.
Some got their blankets before their births. Some had to wait a while longer.
The Call the Midwife blanket is an old favorite that I have made many times. This time, I worked with some leftover white yarn bordered in baby blue, and the result is a delicate blanket just perfect for the little boy it was gifted to. His mom says she is a big fan of white blankets.
The Modern Baby Granny Blanket is one I fell in love with by The Crochet Crowd. I have used this pattern so many times. I love that it is a join-as-you-go pattern. It is perfect to use up leftover yarn.
The Geometry Baby Blanket from Herrschners was made for a little guy who is only a few weeks old. This pattern was pretty easy and worked up quickly. My only issue with it was that I ran out of some of the colors even though I ordered the amount the pattern told me to. I was able to make a few changes that didn’t affect the over all design, but running out of yarn is one of my pet peeves! This is a fun versatile pattern that could be made in any color you choose.
Lately, I’ve been falling back on another old favorite pattern, the Round Ripple Baby Blanket. It can be used with any yarn in any color. You can choose your color pattern or use a self-striping yarn. The two most recent I made were done with yarn that had been hanging out in the back of the guest room closet for a while. Each yarn made a unique blanket.
In fact, the blanket currently on my hook is another Round Ripple.
Do you have a favorite blanket that you make for babies?
I like corner to corner for a quick job! But, you blanket for Hannah is perfect and well-loved.
