Some people go to work from 9-5 week in and week out. They work one job. They get paid.
I have many jobs. First, I’m a mother and homeschooler, second I direct our homeschool co-op, third I run this site and design and sell crocheted items, fourth I use my college degree periodically in editing and design. Sometimes I get paid.
I decided to combine a couple of my jobs in the last few weeks—my crochet job and my homeschool co-op job. I designed and stitched the Homeschool Co-op Blanket. And I’m super excited about it.

It encapsulates our homeschool community day. Classical Conversations is a classical, Christian education and is a nation-wide program. We have absolutely loved being part of the larger homeschool community and our local community in particular.

I’m hoping that some people in that larger community will want to make a blanket too—a wonderful keepsake and thank-you gift.

The pattern is available for purchase here.
This pattern is worked in the popular and versatile corner-to-corner method. It has become a favorite stitch of mine since I first discovered the wonderful texture of the pattern. This time I chose to work the blanket in panels—16 panels!
I also decided to join-as-you-go with the Flat-Braid Join. I think it is a good method as long as no corner loops are made in order to keep all of the squares lined up. There are other ways to join the panels as well.
I managed to use leftover Stylecraft Special DK yarn in a variety of coordinating colors. I used 9 different colors, so would suggest 9 different skeins of yarn. Using DK (3-weight) yarn, my blanket measured 43” square. It would definitely work to use worsted-weight yarn, but the blanket will be bigger.

I also learned my lesson and wove in the ends of each panel before moving to the next. There were a LOT of ends.
Who will be making it with me?
