I have a new best friend. This friend promises to keep me out of messes and awful tangles. This friend endeavors to keep me in line.
Now, our friendship is new, so I still have to figure out exactly well we work together, but I am definitely smitten.
Who is this friend?
It’s my Yarn Bobbin Holder.
I purchased this 20 bobbin holder from Etsy here. If you’ve ever made corner-to-corner blankets or graphgans, you know that you are often working with many yarns at one time. There are all sorts of ways to keep your yarn nice. You might stop after every row and untangle your yarn. You might use clips to keep your bobbins in place.
My method has always been to keep going until I get a big wad of yarn in the back that won’t pull, cut it off, and tie new strings on. I just can’t be bothered to take all time to keep everything untangled.
Because I’ve been designing corner-to-corner blankets, I decided a yarn bobbin holder was worth the investment. So last night, I cut yarn, wound bobbins, and continued on my way. What a difference! The bobbins spun on their pegs like a pinwheel blowing gently in the breeze. I’m learning how full I need to make the bobbins and I’m learning how to turn the blanket each time so that the strands stay untangled (It was only a little tangled at quitting time).
This is life changing.
Hopefully I’ll be able to release my new pattern even sooner now. Of course, I have to weave all of those ends in first…
