There is a lot of promise in a yarn name. If the yarn has “soft” it’s name, it had better be soft. If it has “quick” in it’s name, it better work up quickly.

I picked up some Lion Brand Mandala Thick and Quick yarn in the Labyrinth colorway. I have fallen in love with regular Mandala yarn recently, so I wanted to give it a try.

The yarn is soft and thick. It does work up quickly, but I do miss the value of regular Mandala yarn. The regular yarn has a lot of yarn per skein. The Thick and Quick does not.

I bought 4 skeins in order to make a baby blanket. I used a simple corner-to-corner pattern and was able to make a blanket that was 24” square using a 10-mm hook. That’s a little on the small side for a blanket, but it is nice and cuddly.

There are 18 squares on each side. For the border, I put 3 sc in each square and 3 sc in each corner.

I would probably use this yarn again, but at the price per yard it might be better to use it for something like a winter hat or gloves.
