A while ago I promised you a post about my amazing new yarn organization system. It turns out I’m not much of an organizer (most of you knew that already!)
BUT
I finally got enough done to share it with you.
After looking at many options, we purchased this system on Amazon. It is a 30-cube storage system. We needed to set it up a little differently because of a window, so we didn’t get 30 cubes.
Since my yarn was overflowing both closets in the guest room, we claimed one wall and put the storage system in. It is big, but is can hold yarn. It is not a system that can hold books or other items as each cube has a weight limit of only around 10 pounds.
I picked up a label maker (because let’s face it, if you’re organizing, you need a label maker), and labeled and sorted. I chose to have my doors open up, so that someone staying in the guest room wouldn’t accidentally open them in the middle of the night and trip or break something.
I love how the colors show through the doors. I originally saw this idea on Pinterest on another blog. They had their yarn nicely sorted by colors. I chose to sort mine by weight. Some cubbies are reserved for specific projects, for for sale items and donations.
I wish I could say there wasn’t still yarn in the closet, but there is. A couple of drawers of finished projects and Etsy items are still calling it home. Hopefully, it’s a little more organized.
Of course, this picture shows the truth:
You can see that the bed is still covered in stuff that has yet to be sorted. One day soon we’ll have guests and it will all be clean. One day…
