I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment since completing the first square of the Moogly CAL last January. The blanket has been over a year in the making, and it is finally finished.
With it’s daffodil colors and soft yarn, each of these squares have given me joy. I’ve learned many new techniques. I did every square whether I wanted to or not.
The result is this beautiful, eclectic blanket, which is the perfect size to drape over the couch. It is more than a blanket, it’s a conversation piece.
This morning, the sunshine was streaming through the pictures as I set up my sunny blanket for pictures.
There are 24 blocks in total, each from a different designer, yet they come together like a harmonious choir. (You can find the links to the patterns in this post and this one.)
To join the squares, I used a join called Celtic Lace Junior by Rachele Carmona. Her instructions were very clear with photo tutorials. Joins like this are very forgiving when your squares vary slightly in size or have different stitch counts. I just made sure each square had eight small fans on each side.
My border needed a little more depth, so I added a row of small fans in each outside chain space and 9 dc in each corner. The last round was a single crochet between each group of two stitches and a ch 2 between them.
I’m happy with how it ended up.
You can’t put a price on this type of blanket. The amount our hours and love that go into it are priceless. This blanket is headed to my gift cubby waiting for the day when it is the perfect time to give it to a couple who recently got engaged.
I hope they like yellow.
