I used to work in publishing. There was always a bittersweet moment when a book was finally published. That book which I worked on for weeks or months or years, no longer needed me. It was finished. I was proud of it, but I was in some fashion sad to say good-bye to it.
Today I present another baby. It took longer to make than a baby in the womb (though it was admittedly not harder to birth). After nearly 13 months it is finally ready to be presented in it’s entirety (though, I confess, there are still a few ends to weave in).
Here it is: My 2018 Temperature Blanket.
The year began with January on the left and ended with December on the right. It is an awesome study in the year’s weather. We can talk about the median temperature, the average temperature, the snowfall, the rain (we had a LOT this year), and everything in between.
My finished blanket ended up measuring approximately 42″ by 66″–a good size to cuddle up on the couch with. For lightweight yarn it is actually quite warm.
This blanket is truly a piece of art. It was fun to coordinate with nature in my artistry and see God’s provision for us and the perfect pattern he has given us.
375 squares, 12 months, 17 colors, 2-8 ends per square to weave in.
This baby is going on the quilt rack. I’ll use it someday. For now, I just want to look at it and rest in a job completed.

In the meantime, my 2019 blanket is done through January 22. It is a very different pattern, which you can find here.
Beautiful! Glad to see it in its entirety!
