It is only 8 hours from 2019 and I find myself contemplating the past year. Did I reach my crochet goals? Did I finish enough projects? Did I become more successful?
I’m pretty sure I stopped measuring success by the world’s standards a while ago. This crochet blog business is not easy. I’ve been blogging for real for a year now, and I’ve just hit 10,000 total views. To be “successful” I need to be getting at least that many views a month.
But on the flip side, I’ve had 10,000 total views! That’s awesome.
Did I sell more from my Etsy store this year? Maybe? But I paid more for advertising.
Did I find success at the craft fair I attended? I didn’t sell much.
BUT…
This business isn’t about those things for me. If I start to concentrate on only doing what will get me the most sales and most views, I won’t enjoy what I’m doing. If I don’t enjoy what I’m doing, what’s the point?
Did I reach my 2018 goals?
- I’m still blogging. Check.
- I’m writing patterns. What?! Check.
- I finished some pretty big projects. Check.
- While I didn’t finish my temperature blanket, I’m on track to (just waiting for that darn yarn). Check.
- I’ve made a pattern (hopefully easier) for the 2019 Temperature Blanket. Check.
- I finished all of the squares for the Moogly CAL (though I still have to sew them together…waiting on yarn again). Check.
There were so many other things I accomplished. I’ve got to say, it takes time. I’ve Netflixed my way through many different series in the process. I’ve got a husband who puts up with skeins of yarn EVERYWHERE. I have kids who know not to touch mommy’s yarn.
2018 was a great yarn year. Here’s to 2019 and much, much more yarn.
Check out all of my original patterns from the year below.
