Crochet Along

Corner Clusters and New Techniques

The Moogly Crochet Along is a highlight of my week. Today’s square was no exception. It was square number #14, and I’m actually all caught up!

Today’s square is Clusters in the Corner Square by the Underground Crafter.

Upon first glance, I wasn’t sure about this one. I’m not a huge fan of corner squares like this, but part of what’s so great about these squares is learning new techniques and the ecclectic overall look of the finished afghan.

So, I pulled out my yarn and gave it a go. I’m glad I did. I actually really like this one. There is enough texture to keep it interesting and I was very impressed with how square the square was. I kind of expected the edges to get all wonky, but they held their own.

The difficulty level was listed as a 3 out of 4 on the pattern. I think that was probably accurate. I had to frog (that’s what it’s called when you pull yarn out to start again) a few times on different rows. If you’ve done a few different techniques, it shouldn’t be too intimidating.

The corner square is actually worked on the wrong side. I was so skeptical about how it would turn out because I like both sides, but again, I decided to trust the pattern and, again, it worked out.

The orginal pattern had only two colors, but I decided to work all of mine in.

I like it. I can see making an entire blanket out of these squares.
