Lemons, Bananas, and Kiwis, oh my! – Fruit Salad CAL Part 2

It’s been a crazy day. I had one son with a high fever and another with bad allergies. We did swimming, gym class, and I even mowed the lawn. But I made sure I found the time to work on my Fruit Salad CAL. Today, I am sharing with you the Lemon, Banana and Kiwi squares!

If you are just joining us, you’ll want to check out these three previous posts on prep, size, and part 1. The sizing part is super important so you know how many squares of each fruit to make. Squares will be joined at the end of the CAL.

Let’s start with the Lemon Square. It should look familiar. It is exactly the same as the lime and orange square.

Lemon Square

Use this pattern with yellow yarn instead of green or orange.

Abbreviations:

  • MR – Magic Ring, I prefer to use this one.
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • sc – single crochet
  • yo – yarn over
  • BPdc/BPhdc/BPsc – Work stitch as normal around the indicated stitch inserting the hook from back to front
  • ch – chain

Hook: I-hook or J-hook. I used an I-hook, but it’s a little tight. It is totally your preference. NOTE: On a number of rounds your work will curve up, but it will flatten as you crochet the next rows.

Yarn: I used Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn, but any worsted weight yarn should work.

Gauge: The finished square should measure 6″.

The banana square is made in two parts. You’ll start with a plain square and add an applique banana. You will be able to use the plain square if you are doing the Simply Citrus or Creamy Fruit Salad alternatives. (See this post if that sounds new to you.)
