The first time I made this pattern was last fall. I saw the kit on Craftsy, and I couldn’t resist making it for a close friend who was having a baby. That blanket was a gentle cream color.
Along with this blanket, I’m using the same pattern with Lion Brand’s Touch of Alpaca yarn.
I should have finished it by now, but my H-hook fell under the couch, and I’ve been too lazy to fish it out. Sad, but true.
With the Alpaca yarn, I will be running out of yarn, so it may not get a proper border.
The pattern, Flower Petal Blanket by Sweet Potato 3, though initially complicated, is easily learned and repeated. I love the way the joins seem almost invisible.
For my blanket I used Lion Brand Mandala in Valkyrie with a G-hook. My original plan was to make the blanket 5 x 4 squares, but when I went to Wal-Mart to pick up an extra skein of yarn, they weren’t carrying it anymore! I decided I shouldn’t buy more yarn, and I even resisted some at clearance prices.
So, when I got home, I pulled the bottom two squares off, and made it 4×4 squares instead. I even had enough yarn to complete the border!
The blanket turned out to be about 35×35″, so it’s a great size for a baby blanket. I love how it turned out
