Introducing the Diagonal Bobbles Blanket. If you’ve been following my Facebook page, you’ve inevitably seen this blanket in process. It popped up every once in a while after I spent an evening working on it.
The pattern worked up exactly as I envisioned it. Rows of gentle diagonals create a subtle design and fantastic texture. Worked in double crochets down the right side and singles down the wrongside, the pattern is easy to follow and works up quickly.
If you prefer, an easy-to-print PDF can be purchased here.
Diagonal Bobbles Blanket
Yarn: I used 7 skeins of Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn in Holland. Find it here. Make sure all of the yarn you purchase is from the same dye lot. I needed to purchase additional yarn and the color difference is obvious. This blanket would look good in almost any yarn, so feel free to experiment.
Hook: I-Hook
Gauge: I don’t find gauge incredibly important for a blanket, but if you prefer one: 14 stitches and 10 rows in pattern (one row sc, one row dc) makes a 4×4″ square.
Finished size: 33″ x 40″. The pattern can be increased by adding multiples of 14.
Stitches: This blanket only uses a few stitches and should be doable for most skill levels.
- dc – double crochet
- sc – single crochet
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- Bobble – This is basically a 5 dcTogether. Yarn over (yo), insert in next st and pull up a loop, yo and pull through two loops. [YO and insert into same st and pull up a loop. YO and pull through two loops] 4 more times. YO, pull through six loops on hook.
