Let’s pretend for a moment that you are a young single woman at the prime of your life. You’ve just found out you’re pregnant, but can’t figure out how you could possibly love your child or even take care of it. You walk into a place called Choices Pregnancy Services. They love on you. They pray for you. They answer any and every question you have. With that positive pregnancy test, they hand you a blanket. Remember how you were uncertain if you could love your child. With this gift, a blanket made just for your baby, you now have hope that with the help of others you can do this.
Next week I’m hosting a Blanket Bee at my house. It will serve as a time for a group of us to get together and do the craft we love, while helping to make someone else’s day a little better down the road. Some people will just be learning to crochet. Some people will be knitting a blanket. Some people will be sewing up flannel blankets. With each stitch we will be thinking of a baby that will hopefully be born, and we will pray for the women that will receive them.
Our goal is twenty blankets.
I’m not sure if that’s a lot or a little, but I do know we can do it.
If you’d like more information, please contact me. All blankets will be donated to Choices Pregnancy Services, which has offices in Monaca and Coraopolis.
