A while ago a friend of mine left a bunch of yarn on my porch. What better gift is there than a pile of yarn?! I knew from the moment that I saw the Lion Brand Homespun that it would become a scarf. I pulled it out and sat down thinking I knew what I was going to make, but then I decided on something else.
I was starting to look for patterns on Ravelry, but I realized that I don’t need a pattern for a simple V-Stitch Scarf! So, I made my own pattern. One of the best things about this scarf is how quickly it works up. It took me just one evening of binge watching Madam Secretary.
Quick V-Stitch Scarf
Yarn: 1-2 Skeins of Lion Brand Homespun. I chose to use three colors though since I was gifted the yarn, I can’t tell you what exactly those colors were.
Hook size: K
Gauge: I didn’t worry about gauge on this scarf, but the finished product was about 7″ by 60″. More rows can be added to the middle section to make it longer.
Pattern:
Row 1: With color A (beige on mine), ch. 27. DC in 6th ch. from hook, ch. 1, DC in the same stitch. Skip next two chains. DC, ch. 1, DC (v-stitch) in next ch. *skip two ch., v-stitch in next ch. across to last three chs. Skip two and DC in last chain.
Row 2: Ch. 2 (counts as first DC here and throughout), V-stitch in ch. 1 of V-stitch in previous row, and repeat across. Dc in 2nd ch of turning chain.
Row 3: Repeat row 2.
The rest of the scarf is made by repeating Row 2 until the desired length. In my case the color changes were what made this scarf unique.
Color changes:
6 rows A (Beige)
3 rows B (Green/brown)
6 rows C (Blue)
3 rows B
42 rows A
3 rows B
6 rows C
3 rows C
6 rows A
Finish off and weave in the ends.
That’s all. My quick and simple v-stitch scarf. Perfect for a last minute gift or winter preparation.
As for the scarf, it is for sale at my Etsy shop.
